Electrical engineering practical training (in-depth)
Analysing and fixing malfunctions
Taking a more in-depth look at an analytical approach and a clear roadmap to resolving the malfunction.
Finding the root cause instead of just treating symptoms. Reducing the costs of failure by minimising repeat visits. Increasing frequency of the ‘first-time fix’, thus creating more calm in the organisation.
Using the full range of sensory input, knowledge and skills to work effectively. Using a schematic, the multimeter and a healthy dose of common sense and technical insight to locate the malfunction. This requires methodical troubleshooting. Start by gathering information and determining what works and what doesn’t. What is supposed to happen, and which components do that? Where is that displayed on the schematic and what are the codes? Apply the exclusion method. Measure and identify what isn’t working properly.
Target group
This course is intended for technicians with solid basic knowledge of electrical systems. It is specifically designed for people who are familiar with and have hands-on experience working on electrical systems. This basic knowledge may not have been used to effectively identify and fix malfunctions, or only rarely. Or there may be a need to acquire more knowledge and tools to significantly boost quality in effective analysis and resolution of malfunctions.
